Block Paving Sealing,
and Why It Matters

Your driveway is one of the hardest working surfaces on your property. Sealing it after a professional clean is the single most effective way to protect it, keep it looking its best, and make it far easier to care for.

Once block paving has been deep cleaned and re-sanded, it is at its most vulnerable. Open joints and bare blocks are exposed to rain, frost, spills and windblown seeds. A professional grade sealer, applied at the right time, locks in the freshly cleaned finish and forms a tough, protective layer that keeps working for years.

Six reasons to seal your paving

1 Stops weeds and moss returning

Sealer hardens the jointing sand between your blocks, removing the loose, damp bed that weeds, moss and algae need to take root. The result is a cleaner drive with far less regrowth.

2 Locks jointing sand in place

The sealer binds the kiln dried sand solid, so it cannot be washed out by rain, blown away or lost to sweeping. Stable joints keep your blocks firmly in place.

3 Shields against oil and stains

A cured sealer forms a barrier over the surface. Oil, fuel and everyday spills sit on top rather than soaking in, so they can be cleaned away before they become permanent marks.

4 Revives and enhances colour

Sealing brings tired, faded blocks back to life and deepens their natural colour. You can choose the level of finish you prefer, from a subtle natural look through to a rich wet look.

5 Extends the life of your paving

By protecting against weathering, frost damage and surface wear, sealing helps your paving stay sound and attractive for longer, protecting the investment you have made in your property.

6 Makes maintenance easy

Sealed paving stays cleaner for longer and dirt struggles to bond to the surface. Routine care becomes a light sweep and an occasional rinse rather than a battle with weeds and grime.

Our Process

What happens on the day

01

Deep clean

Your paving is professionally cleaned to remove dirt, weeds, moss and algae, restoring the original surface.

02

Re-sand the joints

Joints are refilled with fresh kiln dried sand, giving the blocks proper support and a crisp, even finish.

03

Apply the sealer

A professional grade sealer is applied evenly across the paving, penetrating the joints and coating the blocks.

04

Cure and protect

The sealer is touch dry within hours and reaches full hardness over the following days as it cures.

Choose your finish

Matt

All the protection with a completely natural look. Ideal if you want your paving protected but unchanged in appearance.

Silk

A soft, subtle sheen that gently enriches the colour of the blocks without a high shine.

Gloss

A rich wet look finish that deepens colour dramatically and gives the strongest visual lift.

Good to know

  • Weather matters. Sealer needs clean, dry paving to bond properly, so we schedule sealing for suitable conditions.
  • Drying times. The surface is typically touch dry within a few hours. We will advise you on the day, but as a guide, keep foot traffic off until it is dry and vehicles off for 24 to 48 hours.
  • Grip is considered. We recommend the right finish for your space, including paths, slopes and shaded areas.
  • Long lasting protection. A single professional application protects for years. A top up coat in future keeps the protection, and the finish, at its best.
  • Trusted products. We use proven, professional grade sealers designed specifically for UK block paving and UK weather.
